Kitesurfing Trip - Mauritius

Why go kitesurfing in Mauritius?

Mauritius is an Indian Ocean paradise that offers ideal conditions for kitesurfing. Its crystal-clear waters, beautiful landscapes, and constant winds make it an ideal destination for lovers of this sport. It is also an ideal destination to bring non-kitesurfing companions due to the many attractions this small country has to offer.

Its wide lagoons and shallow waters are ideal for beginners, while more advanced riders can enjoy its legendary waves.

Trade winds blow steadily along the east, south, and north coasts of the island, providing optimal conditions for kitesurfing in both the lagoon and the ocean. These winds are especially strong and consistent during the June to October season, making Mauritius a favorite spot for kitesurfers from around the world.

Le Morne is the main spot and has a well-developed infrastructure for kitesurfing. This spot is home to the famous Le Morne lagoon, with flat, shallow water that is perfect for beginners, intermediate riders, and freestyle. From here, you can also access several of the best wave spots on the planet via the "channel." There are numerous schools offering lessons for all levels, from beginners to advanced. In addition, you will find equipment rental shops and nearby accommodations.

Kitesurfing spots in Mauritius

Constant wind, flat water, and wave spots—everything you love about
can be found in Le Morne, Mauritius.

Le Morne

Located at the southwestern tip of the island, this is Mauritius' main spot and one of the most iconic kitesurfing destinations in the world. It is located on a peninsula bordered to the north by the famous Le Morne mountain, which channels the trade winds and helps create exceptional conditions for both beginners and more experienced kitesurfers. There are two distinct locations.

Le Morne Lagoon is perfect for beginners and those who want to improve their skills and maneuvers in flat water. It is a flat, shallow water spot.

The waves at Le Morne are world-renowned for their size, power, and quality, attracting expert waveriders in search of thrilling surfing and kitesurfing sessions. The trade winds here blow side-offshore, making the waves perfect, as well as fast, as they are mainly produced by the reef. Dare to surf the One Eye, or its little sister, Manawa.

Anse La Raie

Sport in the northeast of the island. It is a flat, shallow sea lagoon. It has a beautiful landscape and is less crowded than Le Morne. There are kitesurfing schools and clubs where you can rent equipment. There is also hotel infrastructure at the spot and nearby. Ideal for freestyle, beginners, or those looking for a less crowded alternative spot with a local atmosphere.

Secret Downwind

For our group trips, we have prepared an incredible downwind journey. About 11km in a straight line where you can choose between sailing on flat water or surfing the waves on the reef. Here you can see turtles everywhere, abundant marine life, and unforgettable landscapes.

Other leisure alternatives in Mauritius

Mauritius is a destination where you can travel freely and safely in a rental car, allowing you to explore many corners of the island beyond the kitesurfing spots.

If your companion doesn't kitesurf, it's a perfect destination with endless possibilities for unwinding on the beach or exploring the island.
