Cuba Kite Trip

Discover the best kitesurfing spots in Cuba

We will travel to the central belt of the island where the trade winds blow strongest, staying in Cayo Guillermo.

This year our trip includes two downwind legs: from Cayo Coco to Cayo Guillermo, and from Cayo Guillermo to Cayo Pilar. Almost the entire route is flat and shallow, although there is one area with small waves that are ideal for surfing or jumping. We will pass by beaches, incredible mangroves, and completely uninhabited areas. We will be accompanied by a support boat and a kitesurfing instructor to ensure safety, especially for those who are just starting to try downwind surfing.

Other nearby downwinds can also be organized from our accommodation. The hotel is right on the beach. Throughout this area, the wind blows onshore or side-on, with shallow, flat water areas that are ideal for those who are learning. For more advanced riders, these spots are perfect for freestyle.

With constant wind and enviable temperatures, forget your wetsuit and enjoy kitesurfing on these legendary beaches. The beaches have fine white sand, so there's no need to wear booties.

A kite instructor accompanies us throughout the trip to help you and make you feel more confident. This trip is recommended for riders of all levels. If you are just starting out, you are sure to enjoy yourself, and if you are already an expert, you will experience sailing in these legendary spots, with side-off winds and endless waves to surf.

ITINERARY

TRAVEL RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Clothing: It is advisable to bring a windbreaker for the evenings, as the humidity and wind may make you feel a little chilly. For warmth, a jacket or sweatshirt is recommended. It is very important to wear sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun.
  • Footwear: Flip-flops and comfortable shoes for our walks around Havana.
  • Personal care products: It is advisable to bring your toiletries from Spain, as it will be difficult to find them during your trip.
  • Kite equipment: We recommend bringing two bars. Although repair services are available along our itinerary, they are not available at all locations. Our guide will carry a basic repair kit. We recommend bringing two kites so as not to exceed the baggage limit, although if you have extra space, you could add a 12 for the Cumbuco area. We always recommend checking the forecast before your trip.
  • Wetsuit: Althoughon many days you can sail in a swimsuit, it is advisable to bring a short 2mm wetsuit, especially if you feel the cold easily.
  • First aid kit: It is advisable to bring a basic first aid kit with antiseptic, gauze, painkillers, Fortasec, etc. It may be difficult to find basic products of this type there.
  • Sunscreen: It is very important to bring waterproof sunscreen and reapply it frequently. We recommend wearing hats or other head protection. Don't forget sunglasses, both for land and sea, with the appropriate fastenings.
